Hi Homestead Fans, as the title implies, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind for us lately. We had traveled to Jersey for my daughters wedding (which was beautiful), spent the week in NJ visiting with some friends of mine and the wedding festivities. Returned home for a few days and back out again to Reno to accompany my husband on a business trip. While hubby is in trainings pretty much all day, I at least get to enjoy checking some shops out, people watching and working from our room or even cute little cafés😊
One of the perks of being a freelancer is that I get to do this and still be able to get some work done.
Our homestead is being well taken care of and while I miss it along with (especially) our pups, I know all is good and with apps like Marco Polo there’s daily “reports” and interaction which is just great! Gotta love technology. Gosh there’s an app for everything isn’t there?
We’ve been having snow and there’s still snow on the ground, with upcoming warmer temps that will lead to nasty ground….yuck….mud etc. This girl says we’ve had our snow for the year, others beg to differ with me but we shall see. I for one hope we get more snow for sure. One thing I can say is that when there’s lots of snow, we don’t have the muddy wet feet from the dogs etc and it’s kinda nice 🙂
This time of year is always more of a challenge on the homestead, especially when it comes to taking care of all the critters. While I make it easier to fill waterers, it’s still not as quick and easy and having the hose right there to just take care of things like that. A little harder on the ducks as well for their splashing water, but they’re doing alright and still happy campers.
We continue to get eggs daily, thank God! I’m longing for those days when I have eighteen to twenty dozen eggs in our spare fridge tho😉. I know some of our older ladies take a break, we have newer ones laying and there’s always less in the winter months, but boy I sure do miss finding tons of eggs. But spring will be here soon enough.
