Been a never a dull moment week here on our ranch. The girls are all laying beautiful eggs and giving us a great bounty to be able to share and our youngsters are really getting big! I’m anticipating eggs from them by about the end of August. Yey! As I type this, my Brahma lady Willow is in the hen house squawking to get into a nest box! Oh these girls!
THE POKEY LITTLE PUPPY & MORE
Austin is doing so great and his “formal training” has begun with great success! He’s been “working” on getting the attention of his big sister Zeb to play with and finally has succeeded! Zeb is our Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) girl and she too has finally decided ok I guess this little thing is here to stay so may as well play with him too! I’m happy to say she plays much gentler with Austin than she does with her own sibling brother Gabe, also a Blue Heeler but a rare white one. For whatever reason, maybe it’s that Zeb is a female I don’t know, but Austin just shows way more interest in playing with her. She’s fixed so we’re safe on that front ha! She’s also a little smaller than Gabe, but I’m told Border Collies are energetic…people…our Zeb is THE most energetic dog I’ve ever seen or had! Sometimes I really wish I had some of her energy! Most dogs after a good hard play session will lay down and just collapse, oh no not her….for her it’s more more more! But we love her no matter what and she can still be quite a love bug!
Our weather has been getting warmer and warmer which is a huge plus for me! Bring it on! The gardens are doing well and always a work in progress and I enjoy watching them take form. Although I have officially decided that spreading yews are in order for the front gardens. It’s ok to keep some of the flowering stuff, but the chickens like to go in there every so often and in an effort to have some nice foliage, a little color, drought tolerant and prevent some weeds and not have to fence off every garden….I’m looking to plant that type of shrubbery.
AND IT’S CAMPING TIME
These two days are a little busy as we prepare to go away for the long 4th of July holiday. This will be Austins first long ride and his first camping adventure so it’ll be fun. I have been taking him with me on short drives, making sure he isn’t one of those pups that get car sick. If any of you have a dog that does, I welcome any and all suggestions. Our boy Gabe cannot be in any moving vehicle or trailer for even down the driveway without getting sick. It’s sad actually, for both him and well me mainly! My husband is one of those guys that cannot deal with dog “upchuck” so it’s my duty. But we do feel very bad for the little fella because every time we have to clean him and his crate up. He has to ride in a crate and prefers it, plus we’re not about to have a dog puking all over. I’ve done no food, Dramamine, Bonine, Rescue Remedy and they didn’t help. For our Memorial weekend trip, I started him days earlier on CBD treats and the day we left and came home, I gave him a little more. It did help somewhat, but he still was a little queasy and made a mess. I’m starting him on it earlier this time and hoping it helps him more, I’m told the more that builds in his system, the better effect it is. Here’s hoping cause I really feel bad for him. So if anyone can suggest anything, we’re open to it!
I’m happy to report that Austin does fine which makes life easier for him and us!
This will be our first camping without Logan and will certainly feel different, but he’ll be there in spirit, in the form of little Austin 💓
I’m a firm believer in natural a pure products. Recently I purchased a sack of six wool dryer balls and I am absolutely loving them! Of course wanting soft stuff from the dryer along with no static cling I was skeptical at first and couldn’t wait to try them. First load….impressed….by the third time I used these I decided I am hooked! Stuff comes out far softer and cling free than anything I’ve ever used and the best part? No chemicals! I never liked the nasty film dryer sheets leave and I’m not a huge fan of what’s in fabric softener, not to mention allergies many have to these nasty “chems”. So folks, I highly recommend these fuzzy balls. I’ve been told you can add a little essential oil to them, while one of the lines in my Arbonne business is essential oils, I will give it a try and see. With all the wonderful pure and safe essential oils we have, I’m sure a few drops would be a nice touch.
Enjoy some of the weeks photos and I hope all of you have a happy and safe July 4th! Please be aware that many pets are extremely afraid of fireworks! Keep a close eye on your fur babies and make sure they cannot escape and become lost, I’ve known people who’ve lost their beloved pets from becoming petrified and getting loose.
As always…keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you’re up to! If you enjoyed this post, please follow, share with others who you think would enjoy or benefit from it and sign up so you don’t miss a thing and also for my weekly newsletter. Have an Outstanding Day!
